Young people in Myanmar risk being sent to the front line in the ongoing civil war. Many lack meaningful education opportunities in their country, but are keen to return as soon as it is safe to do so. A blanket ban on Study Visas for Myanmar people will hit those of all ages who value and are willing to pay for an education in the UK regardless of whether they may want to delay their return. We think it is cruel, performative & will barely dent net migration figures, given the tiny numbers involved.
