We call upon the Government to create new guidance on screen time for children that is also directed at schools and educational settings as well as parents. This should include ensuring schools are transparent with parents about screen time in school.

The government have provided new guidance with evidence to back the reduction of screen time for children aged 2-5 to 1 hour per day for parents. However, it has not considered the time spent on screens during the school day which can often exceed 1 hour. Educational or not it’s still screen time. The Government has said that evidence backs the guidance that children shouldn't use screens for more than 1 hour so why is this only for parents to follow and not schools. There should be transparency from schools to parents about screen time at school and guidance for them to follow as well.
