Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what advice he has received from Government health advisers on an individual's likelihood to transmit the Omnicron covid-19 variant up to 10 weeks after they have been vaccinated.
The UK Health Security Agency has not advised on the likelihood of transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 after vaccination, as there is currently insufficient data available. With other COVID-19 variants, vaccinated cases have a reduced risk of transmission compared to unvaccinated cases after two doses. Further work is underway to estimate the impact of vaccination on rates of transmission with the Omicron variant.
