Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what support services the Government is providing to people experiencing problem gambling in York; and how much funding those services have received in each of the last five years.
In 2019, the National Health Service announced the creation of up to 15 specialist gambling clinics by 2023/24 with up to £15 million of funding over the same period. Work continues on the phased expansion of these services. Whilst there are no clinics currently based in York, individuals are able to access the NHS Northern Gambling Service, based in Leeds, jointly funded by GambleAware, or satellite clinics in Manchester and Sunderland. There are also national treatment services available, which are commissioned by GambleAware, an independent charity.
