Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, what assessment he has made of the potential merits of introducing the new Infrastructure Levy, as proposed in the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill, prior to occupation to help ensure councils can deliver necessary infrastructure alongside new housing development.

I refer the Hon Member to the Secretary of State’s Written Ministerial Statement of 6 Dec, which address local plans and build out, as well as the infrastructure levy. We will be launching a technical consultation on the Infrastructure Levy shortly which consider the timing of payments.
