Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how many secondary victims claims have been made against his Department in each of the last 10 years; how many of those claims were successful; how many claimants have undergone psychiatric assessment as part of that process; and if he will make a statement.
Claims data is not recorded in a way which identifies claims by secondary victims. When compensation claims are received they are considered on the basis of whether or not the Ministry of Defence has a legal liability to pay compensation. Where there is a legal liability to pay compensation we do so.
