Since 9 December 2021, those recognised as ‘fully vaccinated’ under the United Kingdom’s travel policy are now treated as ‘fully vaccinated’ for the purposes of self-isolation. They are therefore exempt from self-isolation if identified by NHS Test and Trace as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case. Those vaccinated overseas must be able to provide proof of full vaccination issued by an overseas vaccination programme recognised for travel to the UK, if requested to NHS Test and Trace or an enforcement officer.
