Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, if he will take steps to help ensure that people who lost their jobs as a result of breaking covid-19 restrictions have their employment reinstated.
The existing employment rights framework protects employees from being unfairly dismissed. Employees who consider that their dismissal was unfair can complain to an employment tribunal, generally subject to a qualifying period of two-years of continuous service. Should the tribunal find the dismissal unfair, they will determine the appropriate award such as compensation or reinstatement in post.
