Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether the Government has had discussions with the Libyan Government on the location of trials for Libyan citizens who have been granted asylum in the UK and have subsequently been charged with crimes committed in the UK.
We do not disclose information about refugees to the state authorities of the country in which they face persecution or serious harm.
We deny the benefits of refugee status to those who commit serious crimes and are a danger to the community and those who are a danger to national security.
Those refused asylum but who cannot be removed because doing so would breach our international obligations under the Refugee Convention are granted shorter more restrictive leave and subject to regular review to ensure they are removed at the earliest opportunity.
