LGBT+ people have long faced discrimination and violence in Afghanistan, and are unable to live openly. The UK Government worked closely with Rainbow Railroad, Stonewall and MicroRainbow to evacuate 42 at-risk LGBT+ people and eligible dependents to the UK in October and December 2021. We continue to work with humanitarian partners to ensure our programmes are inclusive and aid reaches those in need, including LGBT+ Afghans.
