Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what his red lines are in his negotiations with the unions on NHS pay; and whether he would be willing to increase his pay offer within those red lines.
The Pay Review Body (PRB) process is the established mechanism for determining pay uplifts in the public sector, including for staff working in the National Health Service. The Government has accepted the recommendations of the independent pay review body and over one million NHS workers will receive a pay rise of at least £1,400 this year. Those on the lowest salaries, such as porters and cleaners, are seeing a pay rise of up to 9.3%. This is on top of a 3% pay increase last year when public sector pay was frozen, and wider government support to the general public to help with the cost of living.
