Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, pursuant to his Answer of 16 October 2017 to Question 106251, on Raif Badawi, if he will publish (a) the dates of the meetings where the case of Raif Badawi was raised with Ministers of the Saudi Arabian Government and (b) whether the issue was raised by (i) Ministers and (ii) officials of his Department.

The UK continue to raise human rights with the Government of Saudi Arabia, including our concerns about Raif Badawi, at all levels. We believe we will be more successful in effecting change by discussing cases privately with Saudi Arabia rather than through public criticism.
