The national funding formula makes no distinction between types of schools. Regardless of type, it allocates every primary school a minimum of £3,500 per pupil and every secondary school a minimum of £4,800 per pupil.

Out of 2,076 schools that attract funding through the minimum per pupil levels, 1,315 are primary schools. Of the 739 secondary schools that receive funding through the minimum per pupil levels, 145 are selective schools.

These numbers are calculated as if the national funding formula had been implemented in full in 2017-18, with no transitional arrangements.
