Question to the Department for International Development:

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development, what assessment her Department has made of progress towards the globally-agreed target to eliminate malaria in a further 10 countries by 2020.

Progress towards the Global Technical Strategy (GTS) country elimination milestone of eliminating malaria in at least ten countries is on track. In 2015, ten countries and areas reported fewer than 150 locally-acquired cases of malaria. A further nine countries reported between 150 and 1000 cases. DFID is the second largest international funder to the global malaria response.
