Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what recent estimate his Department has made of the average cost to the NHS of an emergency admission of asthma.

In 2015-16, the average cost to the National Health Service of an emergency admission for a lower respiratory tract infection was £1,338.
In 2015-16, the average cost to the NHS of an emergency admission for asthma was £862.
