Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, when the Intellectual Property Office plans to publish its recommendations on registered and unregistered designs infringement.

This question was answered on 30th October 2017

UK design law was reviewed in 2011-13, following the publication of Ian Hargreaves’ review Digital Opportunity: a review of intellectual property and growth. Intentional copying of a registered design was made a criminal offence by the Intellectual Property Act 2014.

The Government has no current plans to review the law on registered and unregistered designs infringement.
