Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what recent discussions she has had with HM Treasury on whether her Department can retain for 2018-19 loans funding allocations for further education learners not taken up in 2017-18.

Forecasted expenditure on Advanced Learner Loans is agreed with HM Treasury on an annual basis. This takes into account historic trends of take-up and any policy changes that are likely to have an impact on future demand.

To date, in each year that Advanced Learner loans have been available, funding has been available to meet the demand from learners.
