Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what estimate he has made of the cost to the public purse of loans and grants to claimants in financial difficulty after being transferred to universal credit in each month since that benefit was introduced.

Universal Credit advances are recovered from subsequent UC payments so there is very little cost to the public purse save for a small number of cases where recovery does not occur.
