Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what recent estimate his Department has made of the (a) value, (b) amount and (c) proportion of food grown on farms in the UK which is rejected for sale because it does not meet buyer specifications; and if he will make a statement.
A number of factors influence the value, amount and proportion of food which ends up as waste on farm. Current data does not allow us to identify how much of the total is related to buyer specifications.
