Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, if she will make an assessment of the consequences for the asylum partnership agreement with Rwanda of the number of asylum seekers crossing the English Channel.

The Migration and Economic Development Partnership (MEDP) between the UK and Rwanda is part of a suite of measures aimed at disrupting the business model of organised criminal gangs promoting trips to the UK by dangerous and unlawful routes.

Ongoing legal proceedings have prevented relocations to Rwanda taking place to date. Once operational, we will carefully monitor the impacts of the MEDP.
