Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, how many new starter homes have been built in (a) Coventry and (b) the West Midlands in each of the last two years.

We are helping people get a foot on the property ladder through a range of initiatives, including starter homes. Since spring 2010, Government-backed schemes have helped over 417,000 homes be purchased.

The precise definition of starter homes is being considered as part of the revised draft National Planning Policy Framework – until that definition is finalised no starter homes can be made available or sold.
