Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will increase the number of covid-19 tests sent for full genome sequencing in York in the context of the Indian variant being detected in that city.
This question was answered on 25th May 2021
The proportion of all COVID-19 tests sent for full genome sequencing has been increased across the country, including York. There is currently sufficient capacity to process all samples for which genome sequencing is possible.
