Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how much pupil premium funding remained unclaimed in 2016-17.

School and local councils do not claim for pupil premium. The premium is allocated on a formula using pupil number data from the school census and local councils’ looked after children return. The formula used for financial year 2016 to 2017 is set out in the pupil premium conditions of grant, which can be found on gov.uk at
