The Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Bill includes a range of safeguards, including the obligation for the Government to undertake periodic reviews of sanctions regulations and to reassess designations on request. The Bill also provides for the High Court (or Court of Session in Scotland) to consider legal challenges against designations. These safeguards are explained in more detail in the memorandum which the Government submitted to the newly reconstituted Joint Committee on Human Rights on Monday 6 November 2017.
