The government is committed to taking action to improve air quality and making sure our towns and cities are clean, healthy places to live.

Ministers meet regularly with relevant stakeholders to discuss transport and environmental issues, including air quality, and continued to do so over the summer. We continue to consider a range of tax and spending measures that might be needed to support our air quality objectives. Any such measures will be announced in due course, including at Budget.

The Chancellor discusses matters of interest with his cabinet colleagues on a regular basis.
