A new hospital at Whipps Cross forms part of the commitment to deliver 40 new hospitals by 2030. The Department and NHS England and NHS Improvement are jointly responsible for delivering the programme in collaboration with local National Health Service trusts. All schemes will follow the usual business case process and will be reviewed and agreed with HM Treasury. We have regular discussions with HM Treasury on the delivery of the programme to ensure efficiencies and reduce end-to-end delivery timescales

The Department and NHS England and NHS Improvement work with all schemes regarding how and when new hospitals will be built across the decade and have regular discussions with Barts Health NHS Trust regarding the development of its plans.
