Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what information his Department holds on the number of post offices which have (a) closed, (b) been moved into co-location with another business and (c) reduced their level of available services in (i) west Yorkshire, (ii) Yorkshire and (iii) England since the privatisation of the Post Office.
Post Office Limited – the company that manages the UK’s network of post office branches – has not been privatised and is wholly owned by Government.
Today there are over 11,600 post office branches in the UK, the largest retail network in the country, and the number of branches has been at its most stable for decades.
