The Department remains committed to delivering the recommendations set out in the General Practice Forward View published in April 2016 which, as part of a broader package of support, ensures improved access to mental health support for general practitioners (GPs) and trainee GPs who may be suffering from mental ill-health.

To this end NHS England has committed to invest an extra £16 million in addition to the £3.5 million already announced in providing a free and confidential specialist occupational mental health service to support GPs.
