Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what assessment he has made of the effect of (a) self-harm and (b) interpersonal violence on the overall mortality rates for children and young people aged between five and 14 in each region of England in each year for which figures are available.
The Department funds the Multi-Centre Study of Self-Harm in England which collects and analyses data on self-harm across three areas in England (Derby, Manchester and Oxford) which includes studies of mortality in people who have presented at hospital for self-harm.
