Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Minister of State, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, pursuant to the Answer of 25 January 2024 to Question 10054 on Ethiopia: Somaliland, whether he has made an assessment on the potential impact of an independent Somaliland on the security of the Red Sea.

The UK remains committed to securing the freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, and we are closely monitoring the wider maritime security situation. Our position remains that Somaliland's status is an issue for Somalia and Somaliland, to resolve through dialogue.
