Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what steps his Department has taken to support leaseholders where building warranty and insurance providers enter administration within the warranty period.
It is the responsibility of the Financial Conduct Authority to regulate new build warranties and protect consumers. If a consumer is unhappy with the warranty provider’s action, they can contact the Financial Ombudsman Services for free. If a warranty provider enters administration, alternative warranty cover should be arranged, and help can be sought through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
