Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, how much funding from the Revenue Support Grant (RSG) was allocated to (a) Hull City Council and (b) England to cover costs related to student accommodation; how many student households were covered by the RSG; and what estimate his Department has made of the proportion of student-occupied properties that were covered by the RSG for each year since 2009-10.

Revenue Support Grant is an unringfenced grant allocated as part of the Local Government Finance Settlement. Along with council tax, retained business rates and other sources of income, it funds core services provided by councils, including social care, road repairs and waste services.
