The government is aiming to carry out a consultation on the Gender Recognition Act to look at making the process of legally changing gender less bureaucratic and intrusive for transgender people.

Ahead of the consultation launch, we have been engaging with a range of stakeholders, including women’s refuges, women’s rights charities and trans rights charities to help inform the development of the consultation document.

We will also encourage women’s refuges, women’s rights charities and trans rights charities to respond to the consultation when it is launched.
