Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, whether his Department has had discussions with relevant voluntary non-governmental organisations on tackling the shortfall in available emergency accommodation in (a) Huddersfield, (b) Kirklees and (c) West Yorkshire in the last 12 months.
The Department works closely with local authorities and voluntary organisations on the work to end rough sleeping, including the provision of emergency off-the-street accommodation where required.
The Rough Sleeping Initiative is investing up to £500 million in funding to local authorities across England from April 2022 to March 2025. This includes funding up to 14,000 beds and 3,000 support staff this year. Further information on funding allocations can be found here.
