The Government funding of £2.3 billion at the Spending Review will help the National Health Service increase the number of Community Diagnostic Centres to 160 by 2024-25. This will increase diagnostic capacity and provide access to physiological and imaging tests that will improve diagnosis of lung disease.

Targeted Lung Health Checks are running across the country to diagnose cancer and help pick up respiratory conditions including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

NHS England and NHS Improvement are working with the British Lung foundation, a member of the Taskforce for Lung Health which aims to prevent more people from developing lung disease and to transform the care of people living with lung disease. Early diagnosis of lung disease means people will get treatment earlier, improving health outcomes.
