Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what estimate he has made of the amount of ivory that has passed into or through UK borders in each of the last 5 years.
Import and export permits for bringing ivory into and out of the UK are managed on behalf of Defra by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA). Each permit is for one specific item.
The number of permits used in the last five years is shown below:
