The Government is committed to tackling fly-tipping. It is for local authorities to use the full range of powers available to them and ensure they prioritise resources to tackling this issue. I am raising this with colleagues that Ministry of Justice and we will work with the appropriate people in the court system to ensure sentencing levels act as an effective deterrent.

We have published a consultation on a range of proposals to tackle waste crime and fly-tipping. These proposals include giving local authorities and the Environment Agency the power to issue a fixed penalty notice to householders who give their waste to fly-tippers.
