Cosmetics: Microplastics

Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, if he will make it his policy to ban microbeads from (a) sunscreen and (b) all other leave-on cosmetic and personal care products.

During the microbead consultation evidence on other sources of marine plastic pollution was also requested. We are working with the Hazardous Substances Advisory Committee (HSAC), industry and environmental groups, to review the evidence and better understand the sources and impacts of marine microplastics.
