The UK’s goals in Syria are defeating Daesh, and achieving a political settlement that ends the war and suffering, provides stability for all Syrians and the wider region, and enables refugees to safely return. To do this, there needs to be a transition to a new, inclusive, non-sectarian government that can protect the rights of all Syrians and unite the country. We support the UN-led Geneva process between the Syrian parties as this is the forum for reaching a lasting solution to the conflict. We also aim to alleviate suffering through our humanitarian response to the crisis, to which we have committed £2.46 billion.
