The Department does not ordinarily collect information about procurement activity since local authorities and academy trusts are responsible for their own contracts. Information available to the department indicates that the number of local authority and academy trust schools covered by services contracts with Carillion is relatively low, and significantly lower than figures initially published on Carillion’s website. Schools affected already have robust contingency plans in operation and, for many, this may include transferring services in house, or re-procuring with alternative providers. We are working closely with the Official Receiver, Special Manager and local authorities to confirm the position.
