Question to the Department for Education:
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what information his Department holds on schools in the Barnsley local authority area which hold contracts with Carillion.
Local authorities and academy trusts are responsible for their own contracts. Information available to the Department indicates that the number of schools covered by services contracts with Carillion across England is relatively low, including a small number of schools in the Barnsley local authority area. The Department is working closely with both with the Official Receiver and the local authority to confirm the position.
The Department has worked with local authorities and academy trusts to make sure they have robust contingency plans in place and that these have been actioned, where required. The Department is continuing to monitor developments and provide support where it is needed to help minimise any disruption.
