Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what assessment he has made of the prevalence of employer-mandated policies on the retention of tips in the hospitality sector.

The Government collected evidence on the treatment of tips and other discretionary payments in a call for evidence. The Government’s response to the evidence collected in that exercise was included in a consultation document published which sought further evidence on the same issue.
