The Home Office is already taking steps to simplify immigration law, simplifying the Immigration Rules and consolidating primary legislation as part of its Simplification Programme of work.

This Programme of work is part of our response to the Law Commission’s recommendations on Simplifying the Immigration Rules and recommendation in the Windrush Lessons Learned report to consolidate immigration law.

Since autumn 2020, over 30 immigration routes have been simplified and more are reviewed and simplified with each major rules change.
