Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what recent assessment his Department has made of the effect of the UK leaving the EU on creative freelancers.
We have been working closely with the creative industries to understand the impacts and opportunities presented by the UK’s decision to leave the EU.
Government recognises that the creative industries have a higher than average proportion of freelancers working in them than the UK average, and that some of those workers are from the EU. We also recognise that some creative freelancers from the UK regularly carry out work in the EU.
We will ensure that any decisions regarding the future immigration system are based on evidence, and that we discuss proposals with a wide-range of stakeholders, both domestically and in the EU.
