Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he will incorporate consumers who hold digital currencies into the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act 1987.

As with all policies, the Government keeps its policy towards digital currencies under review. The Government recognises the significant benefits that digital currencies and the related technology could bring, as well as potential challenges. The Government is monitoring the situation, and believes any regulation should be proportionate and risk-based.
