Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, whether he has held discussions with his counterpart in the Australian Government on the detention of two UK citizens from Edinburgh East by the Australian Border Force following the letter from the hon. Member for Edinburgh East of 16 January 2018.

The operation of the Australian Immigration system is a matter for the Australian Government. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has however been assured by the Australian High Commission that a review of the case is taking place.
