Large employers have to report their gender pay gap by the deadline, 30 March for the public sector and 4 April for the private and voluntary sector. This is not optional; it is the law.

Failing to comply with the new gender pay gap regulations would be an unlawful act under section 34 of the Equality Act 2006 and be subject to Equality and Human Rights Commission enforcement.

Employers who fail to report on time will be in breach of the regulations and risk facing legal action from the Equality and Human Rights Commission. This could ultimately lead to court orders and fines.
