Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, if he will call on the Competition and Markets Authority to assess the effect of competition on the specialised equipment market for disabled people.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is the independent non-ministerial department responsible for investigating market-wide competition issues in the UK. The CMA and its predecessors are experienced in the specialised equipment markets, having previously investigated unfair practices and anti-competitive agreements within the mobility aids sector. The CMA is responsible for identifying its own work programme, in line with its published prioritisation principles, and the Government is supportive of it continuing its focus on making markets work well for vulnerable consumers.
