Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if he will take steps to ensure that all local authorities have an up to date local transport plan in place.
Local Transport Plans are important in setting out a strategy for improving transport in a local area. The Local Transport Act 2008 removed the obligation on local transport authorities to replace their LTPs every five years, so that they can instead update their plan as they see fit. However, new statutory LTP guidance is being developed for publication in 2023, to include advice on the timespan and potential trigger points for reviewing and updating LTPs.
