The Government is committed to establishing an effective breathing space scheme to support vulnerable consumers with their debts, including those who are receiving treatment for mental health issues. A Call for Evidence closed in mid-January and officials are now working on the policy.

As part of this work, the Government will look closely at this issue, and meet with the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute over the coming weeks.
